Milwaukee Area Dentist Tony Cigno Releases Article About Managing Mouth Inflammation

Milwaukee area dentist Dr. Tony shares what might be causing mouth inflammation, how to cope with it, and ideas for treating it.

Greenfield, WI — February 22, 2018Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno recently published an article titled, “When Your Mouth Hurts! Dealing with Inflammation in the Mouth.”

As Dr. Cigno explains, even though mouth inflammation is not usually a dental emergency, oral pain shouldn’t be taken lightly. He elaborates, “Pain the mouth is often caused by ulcers, canker sores, cold sores, and inflammation. Inflammation is usually caused by yeast infections, tobacco use, medications, fungal infections, irritation, and some illnesses.”

Yet, he adds, “No matter the cause of mouth pain, there are different ways to relieve it.”

Next, he goes into the different types of mouth issues that can be factored back to inflammation and how to manage each one specifically.

For example, for dealing with mouth ulcers, he first advices to avoid hot beverages, salty or spicy foods, and anything with citrus. Additionally, he says tobacco use should be reduced or eliminated because it causes mouth ulcers longer to appear. Yeast infections, on the other hand, must be treated with medication in the form of lozenges, liquid, or pills.

To ease the pain of mouth ulcers, Dr. Cigno recommends using a coating agent like Orajel, while also staying away from sharp foods like chips, alcohol, and mouth wash.
