Milwaukee Area Dentist Tony Cigno Releases New Article About Ingredients that Might Be in Your Natural Toothpaste Whether You Know It or Not

Milwaukee area dentist Dr. Tony discusses potential ingredients one might find in natural toothpastes.

Greenfield, WI — September 13, 2018Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno recently published an article titled, “What’s Hiding In Your “Natural Toothpaste?

Toothpastes in general, explains Dr. Cigno, aren’t really “regulated.” The exception is if or when fluoride is included in the mix. Since too much fluoride can be toxic in very high doses, products that include it do have to meet certain requirements.

As discussed in another recent article Dr. Cigno published on his website, there is a big trend upward today in the popularity of “natural” toothpastes. The basic idea or reason is that there are many who feel we put too many chemicals in the body and thus, they want and seek to limit that for themselves.

Concurrently, they also believe that their natural toothpastes are protecting dental health just as much as their commercial counterparts. However, Dr. Cigno explains that is not always correct. He elaborates, “Despite this information being widely out there in the public domain, people still frequently see the word “natural” and assume that means safer and better for your overall health than other products. With some natural toothpastes and dental products, this could be far from the truth.”

He goes on to share that it’s not always that the ingredients themselves are “bad” but that the ingredients may not be enough to protect and preserve your dental health. Thus, before you make this change, he believes it’s important for you to understand exactly what you’re exchanging and/or giving up if you make the switch.
